Rebeccah,

Are they fighting against spammers, or against being listed as a spammer?

I'd like to get Bassett's SPAM team's thoughts on this post. I've gotten additional promotional email from them since posting.

Kristen,

I use email addresses for every site, and I did not give my elementary school's email address to Bassett.

Giving Bassett my email address would not give them the right to email in perpetuity with no recourse. The email was clearly in violation of CAN SPAM.

This may be an example of practice not matching policy.

So.... Basset has a program in place to fight against spammers, I've been emailing back and forth with one of the guys on that team. Typically that happens after one gets nailed for SPAM. Also... Kristen... I'd be more careful. Big corporations typically don't like comments like that. It doesn't give them a professional vibe, and it looks as if you are speaking for them. PR may not appreciate it.

I am an employee and Bassett only uses e-mail addresses that were voluntarily given while visiting one of our stores or on-line. Our advertising company is an American one. I would write more but I am too busy helping clients with all our wonderful custom high-end furniture that we do not stock.
